Latest happenings

You know how it is when you start something new, right? Then, other things start happening to make it more complicated (and I guess you could say more exciting as well). My boss called me and said there is a job posting that I should consider. So I called and spoke with the person vacating the role. It does sound pretty interesting. I applied this weekend, and my first of three interviews will be next week. Part of me hopes that I get it, and part of me will be ok if I don't.

Pros: I'll be able to meet many new people and business segments. I'll get to work from HOME. I have wanted to work from home for a long time. I'll save an hour alone in travel, not to mention gas savings and wear and tear on my car. I have started brushing up on some of my excel skills since I am not an excel guru. I won't have anyone reporting to me anymore. That is a lot of stress sometimes.

Cons: I like the people I work with, and I know the role well. If I fail, there will only be me to blame. I won't be managing anyone if I take this new role. So my success or failure is 100% my own. Well, typing this is cathartic. There are fewer cons.

My husband also has an interview on Thursday. He started a business this year (really a side business). He will be able to continue doing that to some extent if he takes this new job. I hope he gets it as we could use the second income again.

All of this activity is playing on my nerves and I have a hard time sleeping at night. I have been waking up at ridiculous times, which leaves me in zombie mode. This is all happening right before Christmas. Plenty of people are coming and going the next few weeks to our house. It will be extra hectic.

Then there is this blog. There are so many things that I want to do. I'm not always sure how to make it all work on the site yet. If this blog is to be anywhere near successful, I have to get my branding in gear. It also occurred to me, what is my definition of successful? In my opinion, "successful" happens in stages. The first like will be exciting—the first person to sign the member list.

I created a new Pinterest account yesterday; I'll have to work on it. I don't think I have wrapped my head around building a Pinterest profile for a business. I'll get there.

How do I intertwine the time that I have spent on my "travel brand"? I have had people ask me for travel recommendations and suggested itineraries. My Instagram is filled with pictures from travel destinations, weekend trips, and local sights. I have contemplated making drone videos on YouTube in the past. However, that market is just so competitive. I don't want to do Vlogs or be on camera.

I should also create an Instagram account just for this site, not only travel. But what should I post there? Yes, pictures, but pictures of what? I just started a blog, so I guess I can take photos of working on the blog?

So much to consider and work on, so little time.
