Ready to Hustle

Updated: Dec 13, 2021

It is fall, and I am ready for a new journey. This picture speaks to me in that regard.

I have wanted to start a business for a long time. I spent the past two years working on a few side businesses with my husband. Some have had success; some have not. I have blogged in the past and contributed to 2 other websites, all with moderate success. That endeavor was in the early 2000s, but I stopped as my interests and life changed. I went back to work in 2012, but there continues to be something missing. I want to do something that is for me. I like my job, but I want to work completely on my terms at some point. I want to be able to work from anywhere and at any time.

I work full time, so anything else that I do will genuinely be on the side. YouTube is alluring, but I don't want to be on camera. Online sales, well, we will save that for another day. There are a lot of other suggested side hustles online: completing online surveys, virtual assistants, online sales. The list goes on, but most aren't the right fit at this time.

I am back where I started: blogging. I used to write about food, wine, and parenting. I was a new mom at the time. Now I am the mother of a teenager and life is quite different. I have more time to do things on the side and earn additional income. I have more life, business, and professional experience now. I see a lot of bloggers and YouTubers talk about side hustles. Unfortunately, very few share their experience as they start.

I still need to organize my thoughts, my plans, my goals. I'm in the early stages. I rejoined HARO (Hep A Reporter Out). It will allow me to do a few things; possibly write for some other venues, and see what types of articles are requested.

I need to continue to organize this site. I started this Blog on Wix. Blogging platforms have come a long way since 2011. Then, I also joined Upwork today. These things take time, and I'm usually 20 steps ahead of myself or trying to do too many things at once. Old habits die hard.

Stay with me; it should be an exciting ride.
